A lot of people ask what makes this platform different, and the answer is pretty simple.
There’s no shortage of public information like meeting agendas, press releases, and headlines, and while that matters, it’s only part of the picture.
What we try to do is go beyond that.
We focus on context. We focus on clarity. And we focus on helping people understand what’s actually happening in a way that connects back to everyday life in East Brunswick.
That can mean breaking down Board of Education decisions so they’re easier to follow. It can mean covering local sports in a way that highlights the players and moments that deserve attention. It can also mean asking questions when something doesn’t quite add up.
And sometimes, it means stepping back and looking at the bigger picture.
The New Jersey 12th Congressional District election is a good example of that. There’s a lot of information out there, but not always a lot of clarity around what it means locally. Our goal is to help connect those dots so people can better understand what’s at stake.
Highlighting the People You Don’t Always See
Another thing we hear often, whether it’s through emails, messages, or conversations around town, is that it can feel like the same people get highlighted over and over again.
And to be fair, some people are very visible. They show up, they’re involved, and they’re easy to recognize.
But we also know there are a lot of people doing meaningful things quietly.
The volunteers who don’t post about it.
The people helping behind the scenes.
The ones who show up consistently without looking for recognition.
Those are the stories we care about just as much.
East Brunswick has no shortage of what you could call “silent heroes,” and part of what we want to do with Eyes On EB is make sure more of those people are seen and appreciated.
What This Is Really About
At the end of the day, Eyes On EB is about paying attention.
- Paying attention to what’s happening.
- Paying attention to who’s involved.
- And paying attention to what it all actually means for this community.
